Spent several hours trying to install this after reading and watching the instruction video and all the other instructions. A better template is certainly needed. Having to print my own and it still not be the correct size and required a lot of extra trimming before finally getting the correct size all while hoping I had cut the hole in the correct spot very stressful. Also it’s not mentioned anywhere but when drilling holes be aware of the wire harness near the mounting bracket. You will certainly drill some wires like I did if not careful or aware. Also I was unsure of which washer was supposed to go with the pull down handle and stud. I think I got it right. Hopefully.
Thanks for your support and review Kyle! After speaking with Kyle we determined that his printer settings may have been off when he printed and it printed in a smaller size.
First, I want to commend you on the quality of the product and the fact that you included an installation video via a QR code. That was very helpful and a great touch. However, I encountered a few challenges during the installation process that I think could be addressed to improve the overall experience:
1. Template Availability: The template required for installation should be included in the box. Not everyone has easy access to a printer, and this added an unnecessary step for me.
2. Drill Bit Sizes: At 6:23 in the video, the drill bit size for the hatch holes isn’t mentioned. While I could use the template as a guide, it would be consistent and helpful to specify the size, as you do elsewhere in the video.
3. Included Drill Bit: The video at 8:41 mentions that a drill bit is included, but it wasn’t in my package. If this is no longer part of the kit, it would be good to update the video to avoid confusion.
4. Bolt and Nut Size: At 11:18, the video specifies a 10mm bolt and nut for attaching the pull-down strap, but my package contained an 8mm bolt. Additionally, I suggest replacing the 10mm nut with a nylon locking nut to prevent it from rattling loose over time. I used blue Loctite as a workaround.
Overall, I love the product and appreciate the effort put into creating the video. These minor updates to the video and kit could make the installation process even smoother for future customers.
